Our seafood is so fresh because it’s so popular… and it’s so popular because it’s so fresh

It’s not bragging to say that Adams Seafood is good because it is so fresh. Every day, except Sunday, we receive deliveries from The Fulton Fish Market in New York City, the Boston Fish Pier, Portland’s Fish Exchange, the New Bedford Landing and many more. Another reason our fish is fresher is because we bring in much of our fish whole and cut it in our stores, so it is exposed to the air for as short a time as possible. When you look at our whole fish, you can see how fresh they are by the firm glossy color and texture, and eyes that are bright and not sunken. It should smell fresh, maybe sweet, or a little briny.

Differences in our Seafood
Every wonder about the differences in seafood terms? What is farm-raised, what is wild caught? Learn more.

An uncompromising commitment to quality
Adams fishmongers have years of experience buying and selling and their skills allow us to offer our customers healthy, flavorful, competitively priced, high quality seafood. We are your neighborhood fish market in that our service is personal, but we’re unlike most because we have a massive daily turnover, so our fish is always fresh.

Our fish chefs help you be more creative
Each Adams Seafood Department is a little different, because we cater to our customers’ requests. Our staff is knowledgeable and helpful, and since some are also chefs, they create tempting combinations and store-prepared, take-home fish dishes that will please your palate and delight your family. The selection changes often, so this week’s Alaskan sole stuffed with crabmeat may be Tilapia with shrimp stuffing the next time you come in. Whether we prepare your seafood or you prepare it yourself, Adams Seafood is the freshest you can get and will gratify your guests and your family with its quality. You can also order shrimp platters, salmon platters and lobster and shrimp macaroni and cheese for your next gathering. Order in-store or Online for pick-up or delivery.

Deli FAQs

Can I special order a product or line of products that are not currently available at your Deli?
If the product is available from our distributors, we can usually get what you’re looking for.

Does Adams have their own brand of deli products?
Yes! We have our own line of deli products, Adams Farmstand Fresh. Click HERE to see Adams Farmstand Fresh nutritional information.

Are your cold cuts gluten-free?
Yes, we only slice the highest quality cold cuts available on the market. Some lesser quality companies will use fillers as a substitute of real meat to cut the processing cost and those fillers may contain gluten.

What is a processed cheese?
Processed cheese is a food product made from a normal cheese (and sometimes other unfermented, dairy by-product ingredients), plus emulsifiers, saturated vegetable oils, extra salt, food colorings, and/or whey and sugar. As a result, many flavors, colors, and textures of processed cheese exist. The most naturally made, unprocessed cheeses are Swiss, Brie, Parmesan and Mozzarella.

What’s the difference between “Organic” and “All Natural” cold cuts?
Organic
Organic is a strictly regulated term by the USDA. For meats to qualify for the organic label, farmers follow non-chemical practices such as not using pesticides in the feeds their animals consume. Rotational grazing, balanced diet and clean housing may all be used to maximize the health of the animals without chemical interventions. The organic label is used voluntarily, but to be able to use it, a farm must meet the USDA’s regulations.

Natural
According to the USDA, meats may be labeled as “natural” if they are minimally processed and contain no added color or artificial ingredients. The label must explain why the food is considered natural. “Naturally raised” is a voluntary term, not USDA-sanctioned, that refers to a farmer’s practices. This means livestock have been raised without growth-promoting substances such as added hormones or antibiotics and have never been fed animal or aquatic byproducts from slaughter.

Does Adams slice organic cold cuts?
No. USDA regulations prevent us from using the same equipment and refrigerated cases that non-organic products use. Some products that we slice contain nitrates/nitrites and other common additives to cured meats that would be picked up by the organic products, hence diminishing organic value.

So, do you have any organic selection?
Yes, we do offer a selection of Applegate pre-sliced and packaged cold cuts in our self-serve case.

I have a question not listed here.
Please speak with any of our Deli staff. They will be happy to help you.

Your Neighborhood Butcher Shop

Today we all want to know as much as possible about the meat we eat. At Adams Butcher Shops, we feel just the same way. It’s important to our customers that the meat be super fresh, as local as possible and that it’s pure meat, no fillers. So, that’s what we provide.

The majority of Adams meat doesn’t travel far to come to us and we select the highest quality and excellent farming practices. Whether it is a brand name, or under the Adams Brand, it is good meat to use, freeze and trust to feed your family and friends. We feature Greater Omaha Hereford beef, grass-fed beef, all-natural Bell & Evans chickens, local all-natural Campanelli’s chickens, Plainville turkeys and locally-raised lamb. You’ll find the finest quality pork available and small game, too.

And so much more: We carry store-ground hamburger (80, 85, and 90% lean) and meatloaf mix, store-made sausages, a great range of Adams brand smoked sausages, bacon and pork chops, Boar’s Head hams and hot dogs, local game meats, Cornish hens and the list goes on.
