Meet a favorite filler & spiller for containers – Jamesbrittenia. Commonly called South African Phlox, Jamesbrittenia is related to bacopa. But unlike bacopa that experiences “bloom shyness” when it gets hot, Jamesbrittenia keeps on flowering, from spring until frost.

Planting & Care
Plant in full sun in well-drained soil, letting the soil dry in between watering. But don’t wait for the stems or leaves to shrivel up.

Fertilizer
Start with a slow release fertilizer (Osmocote) and then top off in about two months. Jamesbrittenia, unlike petunias, is not a heavy “feeder.”

Garden Design
Best used in containers. Its low growing habit spreads twice as wide as tall and fills and trails in the container.
