Southern Style Dry Rub

  • ¼ cup Brown sugar
  • ¼ cup Paprika
  • ¼ cup Coarse salt
  • 2 tbsp Ground black pepper
  • 2 tbsp Garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp Onion powder
  • 1 tbsp Cayenne pepper


  1. Whisk brown sugar, paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper together in a bowl.
  2. Store in an airtight container.
  3. When ready to cook, season meat with the dry rub and let it sit for 30-45 minutes before cooking.

Makes enough dry rub for 5-7 lbs of ribs or 10 lbs of pork roast or chicken.
