Adams worker at Newburgh store tests positive for COVID-19

Poughkeepsie, New York,  April 6, 2020 – An Adams employee at the company’s Newburgh store has tested positive for COVID-19. This is the second employee in the Newburgh store to test positive. The first employee to test positive was identified in March, but had not been in the Newburgh store location for an acceptable amount of time prior to the diagnosis and was not deemed a threat to others according to guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and other public health agencies.

The 2nd Adams employee determined they had contracted COVID-19 from a family member that tested positive earlier that week. No other details about the employee or when he or she worked were released.

“Our thoughts are with our team member and their family at this time,” said Steve Adams. “Adams is doing everything it can to protect all of our employees and customers,” he said. “Prior to any positive cases in our stores, we worked with and followed the guidance of the CDC, state and local health officials to implement enhanced cleaning and sanitizing at all our stores.”

Adams stores continue to implement additional preventative measures for sanitation, hygiene, and social separation and are in contact with the Orange County Health Department.
