How to Grow:
Catnip is related to catmint but is the favorite of cats. Catmint spreads via runners and can be very vigorous. Catmint, since it thrives on neglect, is easy to grow. A lean soil and somewhat dry conditions will encourage both flowers and scent.
Plant catnip in well-drained soil in sun or part shade. Keep plants full by pinching the growing stems and flower buds when they appear.
What is the difference between catnip and catmint?
Although they share many of the same characteristics, the two main ones are:
- Catmint has more ornamental value
- Catnip is the one most favored by cats, so this is the choice for the cat friendly garden
